Parallel Planet Pink is a series of photographs of my interpretation of our world in a parallel universe or alternate reality. I was inspired by the film Lomochrome Purple and was drawn to the color alterations and its ability to make an ordinary image look otherworldly. I wanted to experiment with composition, scale, and horizons while trying to navigate how to build this other world.
This project was an opportunity for me to experiment with this film I had never used before. Shooting the first few rolls was a shock. Looking at my film after it was processed to discover it was this dark green hue, I had only assumed there was a processing issue. After looking over my scans, I was astonished to be looking at purple/pink colored images. Pleased by how different the final outcome turned out compared to what I originally remembered capturing excited me even more. When shooting film, the outcome is unknown until it is processed; this element of surprise has always been one of my favorite aspects of photography. With this film, the surprise factor is even more extreme and continued to inspire me as I got each roll back.
